DECATUR, GA—Contractors for DeKalb County Department of Watershed Management will temporarily interrupt water service to replace a damaged 30-inch-diamter water line. The work will take place overnight beginning on Thursday, June 22, at 8 p.m. to lessen the impact to residents, businesses, and commuters near DeKalb Industrial Way, weather permitting.
Residents are advised that when water service is restored, air in the pipes could make the water brown in color. Once water is restored, customers are encouraged to run the faucets inside and outside their homes/businesses to clear the internal plumbing. Particles accumulate in the water mains and can be stirred up as valves are operated and water flow patterns are changed.
Ruby-Collins and SD&C, working on behalf of DeKalb County, are the authorized contractors for the emergency repair. All workers will be wearing proper identification and driving marked vehicles. Customers with questions or concerns can contact the DeKalb County Watershed Department at 770-270-6243.
